Brian Bartlett

Well, it was good to catch up with Brian at Stockland’s the other day he has been through a lot since we last saw him, he is now on a small, motorized chair to allow him to get around. He is involved in the disabled disaster management similar to what the Men’s Shed is, with VoAD. Let’s hope we see a bit more of him in the new year. (Photos below).

In remembrance Of Roger Pound

The guys in the shed have named Roger’s Corner near the entrance where he would sit each Wednesday and have a cup of tea and have a chat with anyone who sat down with him. In the early days Roger was always there to lend a hand with anything that needed doing from painting to plumbing nothing was too much trouble.

Rest in peace old friend.

Rockhampton Men’s Shed Inc. 2022 Christmas Party

The Ladies Auxiliary of The Rockhampton Men’s Shed Inc. organized a Christmas Party at Schotia Place this year the venue was an excellent choice for us. It allowed us plenty of room to move around as well we were surprised at the amount of help; we were given unloading the Christmas gifts and other equipment we had to ensure a great day for our members. The meal was an unexpected home cooked one of ham, chicken and potatoes, pumpkin with peas & beans as well as sweets of either Plumb Pudding & custard or Pavlova & ice cream. Our thanks go to the caterers as well as our Ladies Auxiliary who never cease to amaze us each year with not only the venue but the secret Santa gifts they put together for our members.

Vale Roger Pound

Attached is a copy of a card we received from Roger Pounds family in thanks for the representation we made on behalf of the Rockhampton Men’s Shed Inc. at Rogers funeral. Jim Lawler expressed the thanks to Roger for what he had done for the shed in the past and for his help with the smooth transition of the movement from the NURW to the Rockhampton Men’s Shed Inc. and as a founding member of the Rockhampton Men’s Shed Inc.

New ramp for St Pauls

The St. Paul’s Cathedral commissioned the Rocky Men’s Shed to construct a ramp for the side entrance to the cathedral and with the supply of material from InfoBuild we were able to construct the ramp shown below. With the Utility supplied by our shirt sponsor GladRock Transport we were able to deliver it. The ramp will be used to allow those of us who are less mobile to access the cathedral on those days of worship when they attend the cathedral
