Xmas present for Jim (Speedy & Marion)

Bruce (The Phantom) made these 2 items for the President & Secretary as a mark of appreciation for our work over the lst 12 months (It is more a mark of disrespect (HA HA ) I ? think. It just goes to show how we all get on together at the shed where we are able to rib each other without showing any, disrespect.

Happy New Year to one an all

Jim & Marion

Brian Bartlett

Well, it was good to catch up with Brian at Stockland’s the other day he has been through a lot since we last saw him, he is now on a small, motorized chair to allow him to get around. He is involved in the disabled disaster management similar to what the Men’s Shed is, with VoAD. Let’s hope we see a bit more of him in the new year. (Photos below).

In remembrance Of Roger Pound

The guys in the shed have named Roger’s Corner near the entrance where he would sit each Wednesday and have a cup of tea and have a chat with anyone who sat down with him. In the early days Roger was always there to lend a hand with anything that needed doing from painting to plumbing nothing was too much trouble.

Rest in peace old friend.

RIP Roger Pound

In Remembrance of one of our founding members Roger Pound who passed away on Saturday 24th September 2022 Roger was a founding member of The Rockhampton Men’s Shed Inc. and was instrumental in moving the motion to close down the original organization The National Union of Retired Workers Inc. transferring the assets and funds from that association to the Rockhampton Men’s Shed Inc. this was supported by all the members of the shed. Roger was also part of a group of members who did all the internal construction in the original shed at Wandal. His efforts there were undaunting in his efforts to make sure that shed was something to be proud of. You will always be remembered Roger by those of us who knew you and had the pleasure of your company in the early days when we were younger.

Rest In Peace

More works inside – fit out of the Toilet/Bathroom plus more tempting info for you.

The guys have been busy fitting out the Toilet/ Bathroom on Friday this week Gary, Peter, Ross & Zac all put in a good days work fitting out the above area ready for the tiler to do the waterproofing the shower ready to fit the shower screen as we put the funding in placed to attend to this areas. This has been well managed by our Treasurer. It has been no mean feet putting this all together, I can tell you as she has had many a sleepless night trying to figure out how to juggle the finances.. Ron Wouda has put his thinking cap on working out how to put the 2 kitchens together from the drawing’s that Stuart Hibbert has put together. This has been a well organized team effort by all concerned. ad Les brooks is working on our sign for the front of the building’s and has come up with a further sign that would keep everyone in the loop as to what is going on in the 3 sheds. I have some ideas for the main board for our at the front also, all these will start to come more identifiable in the coming months. We are now starting to clear our old shed out and hope to complete this by the end of July. Our thoughts are also with our members who have experienced stints in hospital Paul Clare & Kevin Cotter get well soon guys.
