Here at the Rockhampton Men’s Shed we are delighted to inform our members and the community that the Big BBQ Brunch that was held the CQ university premises was a success. With around 31 exhibitors turning up giving the whole day an interesting and positive feel. A lot of people (visitors) coming from near and far turned up to the event, which surpassed expectations.
Michelle Landry; a Member for Capricornia, Brittany Lauga Member for Kepple, and Tom Wyatt took some time to be at the event – Tom Wyatt spoke on behalf of the [Livingstone Shire Councel] Mayor Bill Ludwig.
The proceeds of the day went towards the Rockhampton Disabled Horse Riders Association. We give our thanks to the volunteers who helped with the exhibitions and our congratulations to the prize winners Robert Crozier and second prize winner Murray Smith.
The success of the event means all the planning as a co-host for the event is rewarded with the qualities of satisfaction, which reinforces the importance of what we do here at the Men’s Shed – the importance of combating social isolation and to further shine a light on Men’s Health. Hopefully the event informed the community about the importance of community organisations such as the Men’s Shed and the role it plays within the community.
Our thanks to CQ University for allowing to showcase this event.
